In the few minutes that I watched the speeches tonight, I think those in attendance heard that joke. Maybe they were telling each other throughout the arena...
Lieberman bested Harrogate's joke, though. He called himself a Democrat several times, and then at the end of his speech, summoned all of his gravitas and looked his "fellow Democrats" in the eye and made his empathetic appeal. Now that's good stuff there. Harold Pinter never wrote anything half so brilliant.
But then, Lieberman as Democrat fits the discourse these days. Sarah Palin is a feminist, Obama and Biden are leftists, McCain is a Maverick.
Pinter? Please. This stuff is worthy of none so much as Lewis Carroll.
