About that glass ceiling Schtick

In her speech of introduction, er, acceptance speech, Sarah Palin stated:
“It was rightly noted in Denver that Hillary made 18 million cracks in the highest, hardest glass ceiling in America. It turns out the women of America aren’t finished yet, and we can shatter that glass ceiling once and for all.”
By shattering, she means that women can only hope o be VP so long as they are accompanied by their grandfather?

One point of caution Harrogate feels obligated to raise.

It has been about 24 hours since Palin's selection, and given the Rhetorical Situation, it is understandable that the first response of so many of us would be to slam on this whole deal as a token appeal to women and women's rights.

But, we ought to move away from this quickly, for this is indeed of a piece with the identity politics that McCain and Palin have both set us up for.

There are broader things at stake, here. Let us focus instead on her ideological dangerousness, just as if McCain had selected Rick Santorum or Mitt Romney.
