Personally, I think you should congratulate me for (1) sitting through the entire program and watching it without committing acts of violence to myself and (2) picking more winners that a certain someone... (yes, I picked 13 correct but I only viewed four of the x number of the nominated movies for the entire awards ceremony)
Since I refuse to count The Transformers as an Oscar nominee, you deserve even more congratulations for picking so many correctly having viewed only THREE of the nominees!
Thanks, megs. It was gratifying stuff. What a combo, McCarthy and the Coens. And the cast...well, it was just perfect. Harrogate saw it opening night here in Texas Town, with Roof Almighty and Amy Reads. He's thought about it a lot since then.
Wow, when Cormac McCarthy stood at the end, shouting and cheering as the producers went up there to take the big prize, that was just great stuff. And, he had every reason to be proud of that movie. It kicked ever-loving ass.
In McCarthy's expression of comraderie and joy, the misanthropic myth debunked. Not being a press hound-artist isn't the same as being a misanthrope.
And, the extreme cuteness of watching him with his little boy, a night neither will forget.
solon and I haven't seen it yet, but it's on our Netflix queue as of last night. I'm glad to hear that you loved it... you know how adaptations sometimes are. But I had faith in the Coen brothers. I'm just relieved to have the wise Harrogate back up my belief.

I stand by my choice.
The Transformers provided better, more realistic, more emotional acting than Adrian Grenier did in A Perfect Fit.
Please don't mock my boyfriend in the public forum. Shame on you, solon!

How wretched adaptations can be. Witness All The Pretty Horses. Oh, Billy Bob--oh Penelope--where have the green fields gone?
But Harrogate has every confidence that you and solon will find No Country splendid.
