Letterman v. McCain

John McCain was scheduled to appear on Letterman tonight. Because of the economic crisis, McCain canceled his appearance and headed back to Washington to help pass the bill being discussed [on a committee McCain is not on-- try to figure that out].

However, it appears that McCain did not head to Washington and, according to Keith Olbermann, is not in Washington tonight. Instead, after he canceled Letterman, he visited Katie Couric over at CBS. And guess who found out and has live footage?

The health of our democracy is not good when our comedians offer a better analysis of politics than our media.

How many times must McCain lie in one day. Palin?

Watching it now--

Dave is pissed.

I watched it too as Sweet Baby L decided she was against sleep.

Man was he pissed. The show was much worse than the clip.

But on Morning Joe this morning, Joe Scarborough attacked Dave's rant as it was "inappropriate."

So, it is okay to lie and enact a huge political stunt to save a campaign but to call McCain out on his actions is wrong.

I need to hit up youtube to see if I can find it. A few years back
(2000-ish), Dave had been invited to present Garth Brooks with some form of lifetime achievement award and, apparently, had been told he couldn't take the night off because Jesse Jackson could only schedule for that night.

1- So Dave starts the show pissy.
2- Then it is revealed that Jackson's plane has not, and will not, be landing.
3- So Dave starts biting at everyone. Moonves, Paul and the band, the producers. It gets dark.
4- There is no backup plan. Jackson was one of two guests scheduled.
5- Dave, red and furious, making uncomfortable suggestions that everyone is seeing his last show, spends half-an-hour fishing in a bucket with guest #2, some rickety precision-casting expert fisherman.

Un!
Comf!
Table!

Oh, it was riveting.
