Who cares about Joe?

What about Jill? Barry? Sam? Sara? Parker?

I am Jack's complete and total sense of disappointment over this debate.

Nader would not have neglected Betty the Stripper and the new brothel into which she's buying.

You make me think of an interesting discussion that Paperweight and I had yesterday, Oxy. We were discussing the differences b/w American and Canadian currency. Canadian currency is quite similar to British currency--no one dollar bills, but we do have one and two dollar coins. I wondered aloud, to PW, how do strippers receive their tips. An odd thought for me to have, perhaps, but it really has me curious. I mean, it isn't as though these ladies can just tuck a one dollar coin into their g-strings. . . And no, I will not be doing any hands on research on this topic. . .

I'd be happy to do that research! The one time I went to a strip club was 100% out of curiousity, and it was really interesting to me. Now I really want to know how Canadian strippers get tipped, or rather, how they get tipped by the small spenders!! Someone must find out!

Interesting question raised here.

I wonder if the answer must consider the exchange rate.

As is pointed out in Dodgeball, it takes fewer US dollars to purchase something than it does Canadian dollars:

I'm just spitballing here, but why don't we pay it off in Canadian dollars and save some money?

Just so you know, if that's a route you want to travel: it's fifty thousand American; it would be seventy thousand, roughly, Canadian.

Of course, as Dwight reluctantly points out, not wanting to burst Peter's bubble, it would be more like $73,313 Canadian.

In other words, given the exchange rate, maybe the Canadian two-dollar bill becomes the standard tip, the US $1 equivalent, in Canadian strip clubs. To pay with the Canadian dollar, then, is like tipping a dancer in America with a few quarters. Insulting, to say the least.

Now certainly the value of the US dollar has went down, but some consumer goods don't seem to manifest this change; the same may be true of exotic entertainment. For example, a book I just purchased says $14.00 US and $20.00 Canadian.

You might want to look on the back of the strip-club building to find a similar breakdown in pricing. Perhaps you will find something like this:

Tips:
$1.00 US
$2.00 CAD

Private dance:
$20.00 US
$35.00 CAD

Of course, the 2:1 tip rate seems rather high, I know, but it can be offset by the cost of a private dance, as my example above illustrates. (And as a side note, this offset offers an incentive to perverts--err, I mean, patrons--to fairly compensate strippers for their hard work on-stage.)

To be sure, this demands research.

I'm not sure your comparison to the difference in cost of books in the U.S. and Canada is an apt one, Oxy. Books cost more in Canada not because of the exchange rate but b/c there are stricter copyright regulations in Canada. Thus, books are more expensive to publish and to reproduce.

I'm also not question how much one tips a stripper as I am wondering where a stripper puts said tips when the tips come in the form of coins. PW is speculating that they were fanny packs.

Fanny pack. :) !!!!!!

And I did not know that about Canadian copyright. Interesting. Wish I had known before my (lame) attempt at humor.
