Dissent at Fox News

Maybe change is in the air. According to Huffington Post, there has been some mayhem and dissent over at America'a fair and balanced network over Senator Obama's comments over his grandmother and the "typical white" response. On Fox and Friends, one of the co-hosts, Brian Kilmeade, walked off the set when the other two anchors took the quote out of context, repeatedly. Later in the show, "Fox and Friends" interviewed the host of Fox News Sunday, Chris Wallace, and even Wallace criticized the two Fox and Friends anchors for their "Obama Bashing."

Here are the clips:

Mmmmm. Yum, yum. Harrogate likes these videos, although the intra-network debate, of course, is not nearly so commonplace as Wallace would have us believe.

Harrogate's no fan of Wallace or certainly Kileade. But hey, give credit where credit is due. Or, as Harrogate's white grandmother used to say:

A blind groundhog will find an acorn every now and then.

Of course Chris Wallace has been trying to get Senator Obama on Fox News Sunday, the last respectable vestige of Fox News and Obama has refused; hence, the Obama watch clock. So Wallace has a vested interest in this.

But, Wallace is smart enough to know that the proverbial writing is on the wall and that Fox and Friends, as well as Fox, is losing viewership in the mornings because of this type of journalism and talk.

First off, Kudos to Obama for, like Clinton, refusing to appear on one of their flagship shows. One cannot count his interview with Garrett in this context, for Garrett comes off functioning more as a beat reporter than as a pundit.

But, wait.

Harrogate would like to see evidence that Fox's viewership is on the decline. This is the "type of journalism" they've been doing since being on the air, after all, and their numbers have consistently spanked MSNBC and CNN.

If this is changing, that's a refreshing thing. But Harrogate wants some evidence.
