How cool is this?

Del Martin, 87, and Phyllis Lyon, 84, both of whom are long time Lesbian activists, were married today by the mayor of San Francisco. Several other couples, including a couple who has been together for 26 years, were also married today.

You know what's also kinda cool about this? Phyllis Lyon is from the Sooner State! I knew there were some great women to come out of that place ;)

I wonder if the marriages will be valid after November? I have not read any reports or polls on the likelihood that the state's ballot initiative to fix the meaning of marriage in California's constitution will pass or fail.

I know that there is more support for same-sex marriages in California but I do not know if there is enough 50% + 1 to sustain in the fall.
