Visual Rhetoric

This is a dramatic photo: what is the argument? And how much does the lack of context alter the meaning of the photo? (I say this because we have no idea what occurred right before the photo was taken.)

The headline at Talk Left is that Obama Snubbed Clinton at SOTU.

Morning Joe has been discussing it but they are not providing a serious reading.

An Obama spokesperson stated the because of the awkwardness of the day and the endorsement, he backed away to allow Clinton and Kennedy to "talk" without hovering over them.

Before the SOTU address began, the CNN guys talked about this incident. They said that Clinton was shaking hands with a number of people sitting around her and Obama--and Obama turned away from her. I didn't see it--but that's how it was framed on CNN.

At this point in time, I am sick of hearing about this. I am sorry I posted it.

But I think that Obama is sad that Bill, or Hillary, did not try to sleep with him. Clearly, this is about sexual tension and that is why Obama has taken solace in the arms of Ted.

Well, Ted *is* a sexy beast. He doesn't have Bill's charm or Hillary's feistiness--but he's not a bad choice ;)
