The Mask

Police releashed this image of the mask in question. One student stated it was "fleshy-colored" and "wrinkled."

I have no idea what it represents.

It appears that the gun was loaded but it only contained one round. The student, who has a history of mental illness, did not carry any other rounds.

Update: The New York Times reports that it was a Fred Flintstone mask.

I'm with you. Looks like Reagan to me -- the association between a Republican and the potential for gun violence is something the national media would avoid at all costs. The GOP stance on guns certainly does enable gun violence.

That was supposed to read "does not" and be sarcastic. But I guess it works as posted as well.

The strange element to this whole thing is that a student was responsible for apprehending the gunman. The student, who is a police cadet, saw the gunman walk through campus with the barrel of a gun sticking out of a bag. The cadet notified campus security and they made a plan to tackle him where they did.

It was the police cadet that identified the gunman as George Bush.

The joke aorund campus is that our students cannot identify political leaders. But...
