This is a serious question asked in good faith for Senator Clinton supporters:
If, as she does on the campaign trail, states that she has 35 years of experience, why did she not run in 2004 when the Democratic Party needed her?
The new line of attack for Senator Clinton, which will play a prominent role in Thursday's CNN debate, is that Senator Obama is not qualified for the position of Commander-in-Chief...

I believe that she chose not to run because she had made a commitment to NY State when she ran for the Senate to fulfill a complete term as Senator--and she wanted to honor that commitment. Did she have political motives for honoring that commitment? Probably so, but she did honor that commitment.
And as an aside, I'm not necessarily answering this question as a Clinton supporter--I'm still making up my mind. I am answering this question as someone who lived in NY State from 2000 until 2003. Hillary did a lot of positive things for the Upstate, where I lived, and I really do believe, all politics aside, that she wanted to fulfill the pledge she made to the people of the state who welcomed her rather openly.
